Federal Agency has an immediate need for multiple contract senior level Claim Review specialists to perform document review, Barred Attorney litigation support. Contractors will aid the Government in examining various legal documents and providing legal advice to Government and office management. Conduct legal research, document management, document review and respond to discovery requests with drafts and/or final opinions and also assist with case preparation and analysis.
Candidate must be Barred in any state or jurisdiction
- Review each borrower claim that alleges injury or harm, for background information; to ensure required data entries are complete; and to analyze the claim content for accuracy. As necessary, contact the claimant to obtain any missing claim information and once obtained, use this input to complete the claims analysis. Also, if required, interview the claimant or applicable witnesses or both.
- Quickly determine if claim is eligible for relief based on existing agency findings or other government specified criteria and if so recommend the claim be approved.
- If a claim is not eligible for relief based on existing agency findings, review the claim content to determine what other allegations were made by the borrower. Determine which claims should be eligible for relief based on guidance from the Borrower Defense Team (BDT). As necessary, evaluate any other relevant evidence, federal findings or previous enforcement actions, to determine what state law(s) apply and could have been violated. If necessary, conduct added factual and legal investigation and if applicable, evaluate associated testimony.
- Prepare a claim disposition recommendation package that includes a summary of the recommended claim determinations along with any relevant supporting evidence or analysis of applicable state laws, and submit the package to the government for its decision regarding the claim.
The government will provide the contractor resources both initial training and ongoing guidance. Following this initial training, each involved Attorney resource, operating on a FTE basis, will be expected, in terms of volumes and timeliness, to meet or exceed established government borrower claim processing productivity standards. Specifically, to effectively and efficiently process 100, 125, 150 and 175 borrower claims, during weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4-12 respectively.
