We are currently sourcing resumes for a Mechanical Engineering IV to work for a prestigious government client in Greenbelt, MD. All candidates that meet the below qualifications with proven experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:

FUNCTION OF POSITION

Provides Mechanical Engineering support and maintenance leadership in HVAC and mechanical system design and modification of cleanrooms and Space Simulation test facilities. Function as project lead engineer on facilities modifications and refurbishments. May also perform other duties associated within area of assignment as directed by lead personnel or management.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Design and maintain HVAC system for Cleanrooms.
  2. Perform engineering analysis on HVAC and control systems.
  3. Write spec and SOW for proposal and Quotes from contractors for turnkey project or Suppliers for mechanical materials.
  4. Program managing of various mechanical installations for inside mechanics and outside contractors.
  5. Provide support for training of other engineers and technicians.
  6. Develops plans and requirements for upgrading and maintaining cleanroom and test facilities.
  7. Provides support for special tasks involving detailed engineering analyses.
  8. Develops presentations, and presents at or can be expected to be a part of design reviews, safety reviews and other technical presentations.
  9. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from Leads, engineering or management.
  10. Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of work flow.
  11. Must be self-motivated and a “Team Player” with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  12. Must be able to organize time, assignments and properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.
  13. Must be capable of passing required physical examinations and successfully completing assigned training or other required training or certificates as directed by ETIS II management.
  14. Must be able to understand and operate Building Management System. Write sequence of operations if necessary.

 

NATURE OF POSITION CHALLENGES

Complex task assignments requiring considerable creativity and judgment in accomplishing tasks that support project cost and schedule requirements.

  1. Tasks will involve interfacing with customers, management, engineers, and technicians. Therefore, excellent oral and written communication skills are highly desirable, as well as the ability to function autonomously or in a team environment.
  2. Task complexity and duration may vary. Flexibility and adaptability is highly desirable.
  3. Ability to adapt to weekend and holiday support on short notice and extended hours as required.

 

SUPERVISOR GUIDANCE

Does not normally provide direct supervision of other personnel unless assigned as a lead project engineer or task manager. Provides technical direction to other technicians, as required, for completion of work assignments.

RESOURCES IMPACTED

Assignments must be completed using available allocated resources in a timely manner to meet project cost and schedule requirements.

 

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS

Works under the general guidance of a task manager. Is technically responsible for meeting project requirements. Should be capable of working with minimal supervision.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Education or years’ experience commensurate with skill level required for position complexity as determined by management.

  1. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Knowledge of HVAC system control is required.
  3. Direct knowledge and familiarity with Hazardous Area and general OSHA safety classifications are highly desirable.
  4. Relevant job experience including Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS), process instrumentation, Cryogenics, Process piping and instrumentation.
  5. Understanding of high-pressure systems and Vacuum Technology is highly recommended.
  6. Should possess work knowledge of Microsoft Project and AutoCAD is necessary.
  7. Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills.
  8. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from Leads, engineering or management.
  9. Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of work flow.
  10. Must be self-motivated and a “Team Player” with good interpersonal and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Visual and physical contact of system hardware and installed equipment.
  2. Multiple workstation assignments (office, test facility, control room, laboratory, shops, etc.).
  3. Responsibility for transport and control of proprietary information.
  4. Lift and carry items up to 35 pounds.
  5. Pushes and pulls heavy objects.
  6. Ability to hear normal conversation in a control room environment.
  7. Ability to distinguish eight colors on basic panel displays.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is accomplished in offices, control rooms, shops, in, and around test facility buildings.

  1. Must be able to use respiratory protection in confined spaces.
  2. High noise levels may be encountered in some work areas.
  3. Participation in GRC’s Hearing Conservation Program may be required.
  4. Work with other personnel in a group that is team-oriented.
  5. Accept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to company rules and regulations.

 

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASK

Office and facility equipment including calculators, electronic instruments, mechanical instruments and miscellaneous precision measuring devices.

  1. Use of laser equipment may be required.
  2. Desktop computers utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software including Word and Excel

CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE

Regular daily attendance and reporting on time is required to maintain shift effectiveness. Overtime (Holidays, Weekends, Scheduled and Unscheduled) and Shift Work may be required.
